Frequently Asked Questions
Question: I’m not Asian. Can I still receive services from Asian
Human Services?
Answer: More than half of the clients at
Asian Human Services are not Asian. We serve Hispanics, native-born
Americans, Africans, Eastern Europeans – in fact, we do not turn away
anyone based on their ethnic origins.
Question: I am not a citizen of the United
States. Do I need to show documentation when I apply for services at
Asian Human Services?
Answer: We do not require U.S.
citizenship from our clients for the majority of our programs.
Question: I am a low-income member of the
community. Will this prevent me from receiving services at Asian Human
Services?
Answer: Almost all of the services at
Asian Human Services are free. When there is a cost attached to
services, we use a sliding fee scale. We do not turn away any clients
based on their ability to pay.
Question: Asian Human Services does not offer the service that I
am looking for. Can you help me find an agency that does?
Answer: We refer many clients and members of the community to
other agencies, and we are happy to refer you, if you contact us. It’s
also possible that we can assist you, since we are funded to provide
dozens of different services. Ask us!
Question: I would like to make a donation to Asian Human
Services. Whom should I contact?
Answer: You may contact Barth Landor, the Director of
Development at 773-293-8127 or email him at
blandor@ahschicago.org. He will be glad to discuss your donation to
the agency – or to a specific program within the agency.
