The Mental Health Program in Uptown was the first service offered at AHS in 1978. Programming is designed to meet the psychological and social needs of Asian immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities. The program is Medicaid and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certified.

Our goal is to provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services so that clients can achieve independent and productive lives, and integrate effectively into their communities. Our services are offered in Khmer, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bosnian, Thai, Hindi, Arabic, Lao and more. 

  • ADULT MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING SERVICES

This program is for clients ages 18 and over. Individual, Group, Couple and Family Counseling are offered to cope with chronic mental illness, social isolation, acculturation, domestic violence issues. and intergenerational conflict. These services are also offered at the AHS Family Health Center. 

  • CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING SERVICES

We provide counseling for youth ages preschool - 17 and their families. The goal is to help resolve social, emotional, behavioral and academic problems.  Services are provided at our Uptown Center, at AHS Passages Charter School, and at the AHS Family Health Center.

  • PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES

Our psychiatrists provide evaluation and medication monitoring.  This service  is offered to both our Adult and Child & Adolescent programs. 

  • GROUP SERVICES

Provides a supportive environment for Asian immigrants with acute mental illness, as well as for those who are more stable, so that they can learn to manage their symptoms, develop practical life skills, focus on their recovery and integrate effectively back into their communities.
