Since Asian Human Services began helping South East Asian refugees more than 33 years ago, the organization has retained a single purpose: to positively transform lives among Chicago’s immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities. Today, even as the world changes, AHS continues to assist individuals and families in the same way from as far away as Korea and Sudan, and as close as the Uptown neighborhood on Chicago’s North Side. Even as the size and diversity of our client base has grown, the quality and effectiveness of our health, education and employment services remains intact.
AHS serves thousands of at-risk clients from many different countries each year through multiple programs in over 25 languages. In fiscal year 2010, AHS served 26,405 persons, the majority of whom have incomes below the federal poverty level.
