Why were you interested in returning as a 2nd year AmeriCorps member? I loved my first year working with the students and I wanted to come back to continue to work with them.
What motivates you as an ELL Assistant? Being able to see the students excel in different subjects.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Chicago? Having my family around me, having transportations to get to places and having stores near.
If you could describe your AmeriCorps experience so far in one word or phrase, what would it be? Very educational.
What impact do you hope to make in your service? I hope for them to think it is okay to ask for help and always try no matter how hard the problem is and to be confident.
What impact do the children you serve have on you? They are always teaching me something new.
What’s an AmeriCorps memory that you’ll hold onto? A memory that I will hold on to is when I was able to help one of my students understand of how to do adding and subtraction, and how happy he was after he was able to do it on his own.
What are you most proud of over the last few years of service? I am proud of my students showing improvement in their academics.
Where do you see yourself post-AmeriCorps? Hopefully Graduate School.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Veggie Fried Rice.
If you could go back in time, what year or period would you travel to and why? Back to being 10 years old: having no worries at all and being able to go OUTSIDE and play with my friends.
